Contra Costa interfaith Housing

In 1991, concerned Contra Costa County faith communities made the decision to join together and develop badly needed permanent, affordable housing for the county's homeless families and individuals. Today, CCIH membership includes more than twenty inter-denominational, faith-based communities who cooperate and share resources and skills. Together, we work to provide permanent, affordable, supportive housing for individuals and families in Contra Costa County through the program's 27-unit Garden Park apartment complex in Pleasant Hill.

The CCIH is looking for compassionate individuals to help in their afterschool Homework Club that goes from August through June.  Volunteers are needed at the Pleasant Hill, Bay Point (Tuesdays), Pittsburg and Concord locations to help provide academic support and mentoring to children from extremely low-income homes in grades K-12.  Commitment is one afternoon per week.  Adults and high school sophomores through seniors are encouraged to apply.  Contact Gloria Bertolozzi, Volunteer and Outreach Manager at (925)-448-2004.

If you are a fun, energetic party planner, CCIH would welcome your help.  Ruby Slippers, the annual gala auction, will be held at Diablo Country Club on February 4, 2017.  They are looking for committee members to help with exciting auction packages, sponsorships, and ticket sales.  To learn more, email elba@ccinterfaithousing.org.

Contra Costa and Solano Food Bank

Started in 1975, the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano stores and distributes donated and purchased perishable and nonperishable food items. We distribute food directly to low-income people at community sites and make food available for other nonprofit organizations serving the ill, needy and children. The Food Bank works to reduce food waste, feed hungry people and raise public awareness of issues related to food and hunger.

We have a collection barrel in the narthex of the church for collecting canned food. Click here to visit their web site.
