Open to youth in grades 6 through 12, this group meets in the Sun Room
(down the outside stairs, directly below the nursery) from 4:00 PM to
5:30 PM most Sundays during the school year with the Associate
Pastor and other adult leaders. Visitors are always
welcome.
Members
enjoy fun and honest friendship, retreats and outings, programs and confidential discussions on a
variety
of topics. These topics have included school violence, sexuality,
world hunger, vocations, homework and time management, curfews, music
and
movies, alcohol and drugs, dating, honesty, friendship, racism, money
management,
peacemaking, and prayer. Our community is Christian, but we
welcome
participants of all beliefs and faith backgrounds.
Sunday Night TLC:
Sunday Night TLC (Tender Loving Care) meets the several Sunday evenings a year from 5:00 PM
to 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall with a programmed activity and a
potluck
supper. It was created by the Children & Youth and Care &
Fellowship Commissions of The Orinda Community Church in 2001 in hopes
of strengthening connections between our young people and their parents
and the wider church community. In that spirit, all are invited
to
attend, and to bring friends and guests.
Yosemite Weekend
Orinda Community Church families have for many years enjoyed an
informal
spring weekend camp out in Yosemite National Park. The group stays in adjoining
tents at the rustic Housekeeping Camp
on the Merced River and shares fellowship, food, hiking, games,
campfire
singing, and a spirited riverside worship service.
Learning Community Parents:
Parents, guardians and grandparents of our young people are invited
to get together periodically to discuss the parts we play in the
spiritual
nurture of the children God has placed in our care.
